After seeing dozens of videos about Maman Bakery’s Salted Tahini Honeycomb Latte, I finally caved and made my own. I’m a long plane ride away from NYC, so recreating it was really the only option. This is one of those viral recipes that’s actually worth the hype.

A tahini latte in a glass.

There’s something about the nutty creaminess of tahini paired with the sweet honey, a pinch of salt, and strong espresso that just works.

It’s no surprise to me as someone who grew up enjoying Middle Eastern recipes. I know how special sesame seeds are, especially when paired with honey and other sweets.

So of course I had to share it with you!

Your (Short) Grocery List

For those who may be new to tahini as an ingredient, it’s a paste made from ground sesame seeds.

It’s a staple in Middle Eastern cuisine used in both sweet and savory dishes. Here’s everything you’ll need:

Bowls of honey, tahini, milk, and more.

Step by Step Instructions

Tip: Using a personal blender or immersion blender to combine the tahini, honey, and milk really helps to froth everything together.

Achieving A Creamy Smooth Tahini Latte, Every Time

Many copycat tahini coffee recipes brew the coffee directly over the sesame seed paste and honey, but in recipe testing I found that this resulted in a gritty texture.

To help smoothly incorporate the tahini into this latte, I found blending it together with the milk and honey had the best results.

Plus, this results in perfectly frothed milk! A win-win.

Perfect Pairings

Of course you can enjoy this tahini latte hot or cold, any time of the day.

If you’re doing the traditional thing and having it first thing in the morning, I recommend leaning into the Middle Eastern flavors. The tahini in this coffee drink pairs beautifully with the flavors in these breakfast recipes:

Helpful Tips

  • Adjust the amount of tahini, honey, and salt according to your preferences – some like it sweeter, saltier, etc.
  • If serving hot, blend with an immersion blender or steamer to prevent any explosions with a blender
  • Toast some sesame seeds with a teaspoon of honey for a super fancy sweet and salty topping (an ode to the Maman Bakery salted tahini honeycomb latte)
