This classic paloma is made with 5 simple ingredients: tequila, grapefruit & lime juice, sparkling water, and a splash of simple syrup. The result is a tequila grapefruit cocktail that captures that perfect balance of sweetness, acidity, & bitterness.


Units Scale
  • 2 ounces tequila or mezcal
  • 3 ounces fresh grapefruit juice
  • 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 ounce simple syrup
  • 24 ounces sparkling water
  • Optional garnishes: ice, salt, sugar, tajin, slice of grapefruit or lime


  1. Prep your glass. Chill a glass in the freezer before decorating with your garnish of choice. If using a salt, sugar, or tajin rim, rub with lime juice before rimming the glass.
  2. Mix base ingredients. In a ice filled cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and simple syrup.
  3. Shake. Shake the ingredients well and pour into your chilled glass over ice. 
  4. Top with sparkling water. Pour the sparkling water to top off the paloma. Add a slice of fresh citrus if desired. Drink responsibly!
