Description

Love hummus? Make it a meal with simple but delicious toppings like crumbled feta, fresh tomatoes, and olives. This homemade hummus recipe is made in a food processor in a matter of minutes, with a creamy smooth finish that’s excellent served loaded with toppings or a simple drizzle of olive oil.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Hummus:

  • 3 1/2 cups cooked chickpeas or 2 cans chickpeas, drained
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 4 cloves garlic or 1 tbsp toum
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 4 ice cubes

Optional Toppings:

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes (halved)
  • 1 cup olives (halved and pitted)
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese (crumbled)

Instructions

  1. Combine all hummus ingredients. In a food processor combine the drained and rinsed garbanzo beans, garlic or toum, lemon juice, tahini, salt, paprika and ice cubes.
  2. Process until smooth. Puree until smooth and creamy, adding additional ice cubes if needed.
  3. Optional: Add toppings. Spread your hummus on a platter and drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with additional paprika, tomatoes, olives, and feta.
  4. Enjoy! Serve and enjoy.

Notes

I highly recommend cooking your chickpeas from scratch for the best quality hummus. Bonus points if you have time to remove the peels, as this helps result in an even creamier hummus.
