Turmeric Black Pepper Golden Rice

you will need:
-1 onion -1 tbsp turmeric -3 tsp freshly cracked black pepper -2 tbsp ghee (or olive oil or butter) -2 cloves garlic -a small red chili pepper, minced finely -1 cup basmati rice, rinsed -1 ½ cups water -salt to taste

In a nonstick saucepan or pot, add your chopped onion, chili pepper and 1 tbsp of the ghee.

Saute for 2-3 minutes on medium heat.

Toss in minced garlic and continue to cook for another minute.

Add in rice, black pepper and turmeric and mix to coat. Add in water and bring to a boil.

Cover, lower to a simmer and cook for 20 minutes. Fluff cooked rice with remaining tbsp of ghee. Enjoy!
