Description

Today we are making date syrup, a 1 ingredient sauce that’s perfect for drizzling over pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, or just about anything sweet! It’s a lusciously thick, 100% plant based syrup with no added sugar, made from medjool dates stewed with water, strained, and reduced. This decadent syrup comes together in under 2 hours.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups Medjool Dates, with pits removed

Instructions

  1. Remove the pits. Cut a small slice halfway through each date to remove the pits. Discard pits. a hand holding up a date
  2. Steep the dates. Add pitted dates to a bowl and cover with hot water. Let steep for an hour.dates with water in a pot
  3. Boil the dates. Transfer the dates, the water they steeped in, and an additional cup of water to a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then lower to a simmer. Continue to simmer over medium low for 40 minutes, or until the liquid begins to thicken. Mix and add a splash of hot water (about a half cup) at the halfway point. dates boiling with water in a pot
